If I'm not mistaken this is the first Thai coin to be featured on my blog. It was issued as a commemorative of the Fifth
Asian Games which are held every 4 years like the Olympics. That thing that looks like a sun on the reverse is the logo of the Asian Games. Thailand hosted the games twice in a row in 1966 and 1970 which you can read about in the link above. The mintage for this coin is 9 Million and I'm guessing many were saved for the occasion which is why this coin is worth $0.25.
