1961 South African Half Cent!

Ah, South Africa. From riches to ruins in only 50 years! They were rich enough to make a half cent in the 60's and now they are so poor that 10 of their cents is equal to one U.S. cent. Then again, they are in much better shape than most other African countries. At least they can still make denominations in fractions of their dollar. This coin was sadly made in the 30 Millions and is worth only $0.05 in this shape.

1953 British Half Penny!

This is my second favorite British coin. I haven't posted my first favorite yet but I will soon. I'm not sure how it managed to stay in such good condition except it being one of the first coins to have QEII on it meaning someone may have saved it for the occasion. My favorite element of this coin is definitely the ship. It was designed by Thomas Humphrey Paget in the 1930's and his initials are on the coin as HP. He lived until 1974 so he saw the death of his awesome design which lasted for an amazing amount of years. QEII's protrait lasted for 11 years before it was changed and changed again and again. Soon the queen will leave forever and sone of the other royals will be put on the coins and currency. But that's a story for another day so I'll end by saying this coin is worth $1.50.

Worn Down To Nothing (almost) Half Cent Version!

Here's something I haven't done in a while a WDTN(A)! Obviously I didn't get this from circulation so that leaves one clear explanation (if you're new here read some of my older posts). It is a coin that is not often seen for two reasons. 1.) It is a half cent. 2.) It is an error coin. There is a rotation on the reverse of about 40 degrees. Without the rotation a regular 1810-(P) Half Cent is worth $75.00. This one with the rotation is worth $100.00.
