1969 Bahama Islands 5 Cents!

The last coin of the year and it's rainbow colored. It actually kind of looks like someone did some waterclor painting on it. It features a not-so-prickly pineapple and a not-so-good looking portrait of the queen as it's main designs. Something about that face reminds me of a hamster. Personally I think they should have stayed with the first design but the past is the past and all we can do is look forward- to a possible King Charles. Moving on this coin is worth about $0.10 but the "rainbowing" might make it worth more.

1979 Bahamas Quarter!

When I first saw this coin at the flea market I thought it was some sort of Canadian commemorative coin, which they issue way to often. It has a similar appearance to the reverse of the Canadian dime which made me think Canada decided to honor the Bluenose on their quarter. I turned it over and saw the words "COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS" which kind of made me sad because I was trying to get lots of Canadian coins. Still, I kept it because it's in pretty nice condition and very aesthetically pleasing. As with all good things there is a down side and this one's is it's low value of $0.35.

2009 Bahamas Cent!

Found this in the return bin at a coin machine. It's amazing what you can find in those things. I haven't found any silver or anything, I have found one 2 Euro cent coin, two 25 cent coins (one from South America, the other from the Carribean) and a few more that I can't remember right now. It's been a while since I found anything in a return bin I wonder why that is. Probably the U.S. dollar's value going down and the exchange rate of foreign coins going up so that people aren't spending them as much. That or more people are starting to check their change and keep the foreign and interesting ones. Speaking of interesting I found the starfish on this coin very interesting. It's pretty cool having a few starfish on a coin. The reverse is pretty cool too having a dolphin and a flamingo. It almost seems like something out of an aquatic Alice in Wonderland. For those of you who were curious as to its value it is worth $0.05 not bad since I got it for free.
